Mexico 82-83 Series

The 82-83 series continues the format first introduced in 1972. This includes ABC123 format (123ABC for the DF), embossed years of issue in the lower corners, and the abbreviated state name followed by MEX. This series also marked Mexico's first experiment with reflectorization, with glass shavings in the background paint. This did not hold up very well, and the plates tended to deteriorate quickly. In addition, these were flimsy plates, and blue number paint is common along the edges.
